At Glazer Hall, the Room Becomes an Instrument
A concert hall can be many things over the course of a week. A stage for a pianist. A screen for cinema. A setting for conversation, learning, celebration, or an intimate performance that asks the audience to listen differently.
Glazer Hall was created for that range.
Pro AVL designed an integrated performance environment that gives the venue the ability to change its technical identity without losing its sense of place. At the center is a d&b audiotechnik Soundscape system that allows sound to do more than reach the audience. It can be placed, shaped, and moved through the room with intention.
The result is a venue that can support a full concert, a cinema presentation, a spoken-word program, or a more immersive experience, without treating each event as an entirely separate system.
Not a Room With One Setting
Glazer Hall was not conceived as a single-purpose performance space. Its programming asks the room to move between different scales, moods, and audience expectations.
One evening may call for the energy and impact of a live concert. Another may rely on the controlled focus of cinema. A presentation may need a clean visual field and natural spoken-word intelligibility. Each use asks something different of the room, but the experience still needs to feel considered, seamless, and appropriate to the moment.
That is where integrated design becomes more than a technical exercise. The system has to give the venue choices without giving its staff a collection of disconnected tools to manage.

CHALLENGE
Designing for Transformation, Not a Single Use
The assignment was not simply to provide coverage, projection, or control. It was to create a technical environment capable of changing with the program.
- Different events, one venue: The system needed to support concerts, cinema, presentations, and immersive experiences without forcing the venue into a rigid operating model.
- Immersion without excess: Soundscape needed to give designers and operators a new creative dimension while preserving the clarity, balance, and musicality expected in a refined performance environment.
- Technology in concert: Audio, video, projection, screens, lighting, and motorized shades needed to act as one coordinated experience.
- A live opening schedule: The venue began welcoming audiences while final work was still underway, requiring Pro AVL to complete remaining details around active programming and changing access windows.
DESIGN AND INTEGRATION APPROACH
An Audio System That Treats the Room as a Canvas
At Glazer Hall, Pro AVL did not approach sound as something to be pushed from a stage into an audience. The system was designed to give the room dimensionality.
A d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker system forms the foundation, with left, right, and center arrays supported by flown and stage subwoofers and front fills. That provides the strength and definition needed for concert reinforcement. Soundscape expands the possibilities further, allowing sound to be located and moved within the venue for productions that benefit from a more spatial, intentional relationship between performer, content, and audience.
The room’s supporting systems are tied together through custom QSC programming. From touch panels, staff can activate programmed scenes that coordinate audio processing, projection, screens, lighting, and motorized shades. A cinema setting can prepare the room for a screening. A presentation setting can shift the visual and audio environment for speech. A performance setting can bring the focus back to the stage.
The technology is substantial. Its operation is meant to feel clear.

Core System Elements
Sound That Has a Place in the Room
d&b Soundscape gives Glazer Hall the ability to work beyond conventional left-right reinforcement. Sound can be positioned with greater intention, helping productions create a more natural, enveloping, or expressive audience experience when the program calls for it.
A Concert System With Range
The loudspeaker deployment combines left, right, and center arrays with flown and stage subwoofers and front fills. Together, those elements provide the power, coverage, and detail needed for amplified performance while giving the venue a strong technical foundation for varied programming.
Control That Connects the Experience
Custom QSC control programming links the systems that shape the audience experience. Audio, video, projection, screens, lighting, and motorized shades can be coordinated through touch-panel scenes built around the way the venue actually operates.
Production Infrastructure Beyond the Stage
Ross broadcast video technology, projection, source routing, Dante audio networking, and digital displays support the venue’s broader production and presentation needs. The system gives Glazer Hall the capacity to present, inform, and adapt without treating every new event as a technical reset.
FEATURED PROJECT DELIVERY
Completing the Work While the Season Began
The Glazer Hall engagement extended over roughly three years and reached completion in February 2026. Along the way, the project required more than engineering and installation. It required responsiveness.
As the venue opened for its season before every final detail was in place, Pro AVL adjusted to the realities of an active performance schedule. Remaining work was completed around shows and during overnight access windows, while delayed loudspeaker deliveries and final system details were brought into alignment.
That effort reflects a principle that matters in live environments: a project is not complete simply because equipment is installed. It is complete when the venue is ready to use it with confidence.

OPERATIONAL IMPACT
Sophistication Should Not Create Friction
A powerful system is only useful when the people responsible for it know where to begin.
Pro AVL trained Glazer Hall staff on mixing consoles, Dante audio networking, touch-panel pages, source connections, routing, and daily system operation. The training was designed to make the technology understandable in the context of real events—not as an abstract collection of hardware and software.
The venue can also continue shaping the system as its needs evolve. When a new operating scenario emerges, staff can work with Pro AVL’s programming team to create new scenes, refine a workflow, or develop a dedicated touch-panel page.
The goal is not to freeze the venue in its opening-day configuration. It is to give Glazer Hall a platform that can continue to grow with its programming.

OUTCOME
A Hall Ready to Become the Next Thing
Glazer Hall now has an integrated performance system that gives the venue range without sacrificing control.
For a concert, it can deliver powerful and articulate reinforcement. For cinema, it can shape a focused audio-visual environment. For more ambitious productions, Soundscape opens a spatial dimension that changes how sound can live in the room.
Just as importantly, the system gives operators a coherent way to move among those possibilities.
The finished project is not defined by a single show mode or a single technology. It is defined by what becomes possible when audio, video, control, and human operation are designed to work as one.
